Traditionally, solely women make shea butter from the nuts from shea trees that grow under the Sahel in Africa. The demand for the butter – used in cosmetics/chocolates – drastically grew. As a result, production (space) has significantly changed. In this cooperative in Northern-Ghana, women use boiler-kettles and built-in pots to advance their process.

Traditioneel wordt shea boter – dat vervaardigd wordt uit de noten van shea bomen die onder de Sahel in Afrika groeien – louter gemaakt door vrouwen. De vraag naar deze boter – die wordt gebruikt in cosmetica en chocola – groeide drastisch. In deze coöperatie in Noord-Ghana gebruiken de vrouwen kookketels en ingebouwde potten om het proces te bevorderen.
